Privacy Policy

ADUScout("we," "us") operates a directory of ADU (accessory dwelling unit) builders and garage conversion contractors, along with local cost guides and a quote-request service. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you submit a quote request, we collect your name, email, phone number, property city and state, project type, timeline, budget, and any notes you add. When you submit a contractor profile claim, we collect the company name, your name, email, phone, website, city/state, and any message you provide to help us verify your affiliation with the company.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, general location, device type, and interactions such as clicking a contractor's website link. This data is aggregated and does not directly identify you.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs technical information such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps for security and troubleshooting purposes.
How we use your information
We use quote-request information to match you with local contractors. When you submit a quote request, we share your project details with up to three relevant local contractors so they can respond directly to you. We choose these contractors based on service area, project type, and availability. We also use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the site, respond to claim requests and support inquiries, and monitor for fraud or abuse.
We may share information with service providers who help us operate the site (such as hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers), and as required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Cookies and analytics opt-out
We use cookies and similar technologies to support analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google's browser add-on or by enabling "Do Not Track"/Global Privacy Control signals where supported.
Data retention
We keep quote-request and claim-request information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the request, respond to related inquiries, and meet legal or operational recordkeeping needs. We periodically review and delete information we no longer need for these purposes.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (including, potentially, the sharing of quote-request details with contractors, which may qualify as a "sale" under the California Consumer Privacy Act). To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] with your name and the request you'd like to make. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
